60th Anniversary of Shukokai

2009 marked the 60th anniversary of Shukokai karate.
On 28th June, karate students and instructors from all over the world met in Japan to commemorate this great occasion.

Those privileged enough to attend were also invited to train in Okinawa (the birthplace of modern karate) by five Karate world masters.
This was in the form of traditional unarmed combat and also Kobudo (weapons)

The event was a great success and it was an honour to be invited.
We would like to say thank you to everyone involved, especially all the masters from Japan and Okinawa.

As well as the training and celebrations, a special kumite tournament was held.
The British squad competed and showed great spirit with Adele Gill placing 1st in the Women's kumite. Well done Adele.
